HS MAST SLIDER SYSTEM
The Antal HS Mast Slider System is designed for boats with full batten mainsails that experience high loads and compression loading on the mainsail luff. The system’s aluminium sliders contain HS composite fibre inserts that run on aluminium track mounted on the mast. HS composite fibre is a new material that’s durable over long periods of use and offers extremely low friction coefficients. The material is made from special resins strengthened with fibre and is self lubricating.
The HS Mast Slider System provides the following advantages:
- the low friction properties of the HS composite fibre allows the cars to be shorter than standard ball-bearing car systems, thereby reducing the stacking height at the mast when the sail is down;
- the lower cars can easily be removed from the track when the sail is reefed, thereby keeping the tack low to the boom;
- minimum friction under load;
- less maintenance than ball bearing car systems;
- cars can easily be removed and re-installed on the track whenever the mainsail is changed.
HS Size 40 is the smallest batten system Antal offer, where weight stack height and low maintenace is required. Runs off the smaller 22 x 11 track or the small bolt rope track. For boats up to 40 feet
HS Size 50–60-70 uses the 26 x 20 track and is suitable for 52-60 and over 60 foot boats respectively. The size denotes the length of the slider : e.g HS 50 uses 50mm long sliders etc. Size 50 uses a double slider headboard, HS60 uses a triple slider headboard and the HS 70 uses a Quadruple headboard.
HS Size 90 uses 30 x 13 track and is designed for out-and-out racing boats, with carbon fibre mast, multihulls with very large mainsail and overall length over 60 ft plus mono-hulls over 100 ft.
HS Size 130 uses 30 x 13 track and is designed for very large mainsails and will cope with multihulls with overall length over 100 ft and even larger mono-hulls.
HS RACE is a system designed for out-and-out racing boats, with carbon fibre mast, very large mainsails and overall length of 50-60 ft. Uses the 22 x 11 track. Also smaller 40 foot boats with large mainsails can benefit from the race range where a light weight track is used or the bolt rope track is used to keep weight down while maintaining higher working loads with the HS50 slider machined to fit the track and the 40 series using the HS insert.
SBR Symmetric Batten Receptacle for round battens The SBR is different from standard batten receptacles in that it fits inside the batten pocket, making it invisible on the outside except for the small fastening plate - thereby almost completely eliminating chafe on the mast and rigging. For 50 foot boats upwards.
Bolt Rope Track for carbon fibre masts. The new design of this profile allows an easy gluing and the possibility for side screwed fasteners. For high load areas such as reef points and headboard area. Two sizes are available 22 x 15.7 and 30 x 20 mm to suit the size 40 and race and the Size 90 and 130 respectively.
